Through an evolution of the visual language I have cultivated for years, my work explores the relationship between scientific life processes and everyday life experiences via metaphor. My deconstructed cells morph into a pattern and evolve into “cellular landscapes” by the application of an accumulation of dots and drips into a circular arrangement. Pattern and symmetry is an important element; intricate, and intertwined. The topography of each piece is also paramount created by the repetitive buildup of paint and collage like a growth that becomes its own terrain and panorama.

Personal struggles and major events (e.g., living in New York during 9/11) are communicated visually through the imagery of food and elements of pop culture. Sources of inspiration are as widespread as my interests; a range of diverse microscopic biological forms, retro fabric prints, fashion, street art, and glimpses from my travels. The overall result of combining the “micro” and “macro” worlds is a mixed rhythmic interaction of opposites: transparency and opacity/ tension and balance.
